Heat Infrared – Electric Radiant Heating

Posted in Energy saving heating

The extraordinary cold spell we are currently going through is placing huge demands on both the Energy Companies reserves and the customers pocket as we strive to keep our homes warm and comfortable.

.

It is at such times as we are now experiencing that the real advantages of electric radiant heat and in particular infrared heating come to the fore. The fact that radiant heating operates by primarily warming solid objects and not the air means that draughts and door openings do not cause an instant temperature drop as hotter air flows out of a room towards the colder air.

.

Another huge attraction for infrared users is that the exceptionally low comparable running costs mean they can happily run the heating for far longer periods  without having to worry about a huge bill in 3 months time . This longer running time also means our walls and floors do not cool down anywhere near as much as they do with convection heating and so the house heats up far more quickly than it would otherwise.

.

Whilst mainland Europe and North America have long known about the benefits of infrared – both on the pocket and on our health – the technology is still very new to the UK and people can be understandably wary about trying it out. To assuage these fears we are prepared to take out the risk element and back our heaters with a unique 2 year guarantee including a NO QUIBBLE 14 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE if you are not entirely delighted with your new heater.

Ofgem warn of huge energy price rises

Posted in Energy saving heating

The official gov’t watchdog Ofgem have reported their latest findings into energy costs in the future and it makes for grim reading for hard pressed home-owners.

.

They are saying we all face an increase in our bills of between 40% and 60% over the next 6 years ON TOP OF ANNUAL INFLATION RISES !!  This is due to the extra costs the Energy companies will incur meeting the tough carbon reduction targets that are legally binding upon them,

.

Ofgem also estimate that over the next 10 years over £200 billion pounds of investment will be needed to maintain current levels of energy supply and of course this cost has to be recouped in higher heating bills for us all for the forseeable future.

.

Therefore there has never been a more appropriate time to sit down and analyse how each of us can use our energy in more efficient ways . This should also include an in depth look at new technologies that use far less energy and cost far less to run.

.

Please call us now on 08456 345866  for more information on how to possibly cut your heating bills.

Electric Heating Costs v Gas Heating Costs

Posted in Energy saving heating

This question is becoming more and more relevant as energy prices continue to rise and in particular that of gas. Another cause for concern is over the finite nature of gas supplies and our current reliance on them as a country. The case for electric heating has always been undermined in the past by a belief that it costs so much more than gas and is therefore not a viable option.

.

Whatever our political views I think we can all agree that the demand for gas will continue to rise sharply as the emerging economies of China, India and Brazil continue to grow and put ever more pressure on natural resources such as oil and gas. The laws of supply and demand dictate that the price will have to increase considerably in years to come and for this reason ( as well as environmental concerns ) most of the world’s economies are increasingly looking at using electric as the main form of heating.

.

The source of this electric will increasingly be generated by clean technologies such as wind, hydro, solar, tidal and nuclear and this change has also driven technological advances in heating appliances that use far less electric than traditional systems such as storage or panel heaters.

.

Two very interesting and exciting developments are those of infrared heating and Air Source Heat Pumps both of which deliver incredible energy savings but crucially at very affordable costs unlike certain green technologies such as turbine, photovoltaic and ground source pumps, all of which are financially out of reach for most people.

.

Both of these technologies consume less than a third of the energy that gas uses and as such makes them far more attractive to everyone. For example the average 3 bed home uses around 50,000 BTU for hot water and heating whereas  an Air Source Pump uses around 2kw ie 6825 BTU . If electric costs are an average of 3 times the unit cost of gas then you are still making considerable savings of up to 50% of your heating costs.

.

An infrared system in a typical 3 bed house will use around 4.5kw per hour ie 15,354 BTU compared to the 50,000 BTU average of gas heating. Again, a huge reduction in energy useage and a cut in your heating bills that can only grow in future years.

.

The cost savings become even larger if the electricity that is used is generated in part or whole by another green technology such as solar or wind turbine. Also if you take advantage of the numerous off peak electric deals offered by all the major Utility companies.

.

I would recommend you find out from your energy supplier the cost of your gas and electric per unit and work out how much you could save by switching to either infrared or Air Source. To help compare the two differing rates you need to know that 1kw of electric  = 3412 BTU of gas so if the cost of your electric is less than 3.4 times the unit cost of gas you would save money by changing your heating system.

Infrared heating in Staffs,Cheshire, Lancs,Yorks

Posted in Energy saving heating

Cutting our energy usage not only benefits the environment but also our wallets. The UK’s current heating systems are becoming increasingly outdated and new technology has led to incredible efficency savings .

Although the technology may be new the concept is centuries old.

The revival of wood burners and solar panels are based around tried and tested heating methods and use the power of radiant heat.

The most practical and affordable of the new wave of heating systems is INVISIBLE THERMAL INFRARED HEATING.

These new heating units emit invisible thermal heat waves based on the health boosting infra red rays of the sun that make us feel warm and comfortable.

This beneficial natural warmth has been recreated and incorporated into stunning low cost slimline heating units that are also maintenance free.

To find out more about the incredible benefits and substantial cost savings please visit www.multiguardheating.co.uk or call us now on 01908 516366
