Infrared Heaters Running Costs

Posted in infrared heaters

Infrared heaters are rapidly gaining a reputation for being very efficient and flexible to fit or move around the home or office. We are increasingly being asked for specific running costs by people considering buying them so they can weigh up the affordability etc.

..

This is perfectly understandable, however it is an impossible question to answer. The reason is that people prefer different temperature settings and heat outputs in their homes and where one person is comfortable at 22 degrees another will be too hot and prefer 19 or 20 degrees.

.

Another major consideration is the fabric of the building you want to heat. If it is a modern well insulated home with low emission double glazing then the running costs will be less than a solid wall victorian house with older glazing and 3m high ceilings.

.

We can say though that the infrared panels do operate at 300 watts to 750 watts per hour and so if your electric tariff is 10p per hour then you can work out the hourly cost very precisely. To work out the actual cost to maintain a certain temperature is not possible because of the reasons above.

.

For purely guidance only if you take the square area of a room and multiply the meterage by 75 it wil give you the wattage needed to heat a well insulated room to an acceptable standard for most people. If the room has a tall ceiling or less insulation features then multiply by a 100.

..
