Electric Feed In Tariffs & Insulation criteria

Posted in Feed in Tariffs for electric

Now that more details are known about the revolutionary electricity feed in tariffs it is apparent the scheme is not as straight forward as was first assumed by most people.

.

To qualify for the superb financial rewards for generating your own electricity -  the feed in tariff of around 53p per kilowatt produced – all homes must meet strict insulation requirements so that energy is not wasted and lost through inefficient insulation measures.

.

As the greatest heat loss in any home is 40% or so through uninsulated solid walls the homeowner living in such a property must first insulate their walls to an acceptable standard to make them eligible for the feed in tariff scheme.

.

As there are currently over 6 million such properties in the UK a lot of people will be excluded from this great new scheme unless they address the problem of heat loss through their external walls.
